Laliga: Valencia thrashed Madrid in matchday

It was a nightmare for the Spanish giant club, Real Madrid, after suffering a huge 4-1 defeat away to Valencia in their 8th Laliga match at Estadio Mestalla yesterday. This defeat happens to be Madrid’s second of the season after picking their first against Cadiz in matchday five.

Karim Benzema put the visitors Real ahead in the first half from a long rage before Valencia got their equalizer from a penalty spot that was retaken following an encroachment. It was just 2 minutes into the close of the first half when Madrid is full-back, Repheal Verane, got an own goal after diverting a cross past his keeper, giving Valencia the lead after the end of the first half.

Valencia’s attacker, Soler, recorded his second and third for his team again through a penalty spot-kick in the 50th minutes after Marcelo brought down Maxi Gomez in the Real Madrid 18-yard box.

In an astonishing match, a third penalty was awarded in favor of Valencia after the referee looked at a replay on his monitor of what seemed to be a handball by Sergio Ramos. Soler again sent Madrid goalie the wrong way and scores his hat trick, all from a penalty spot-kick.

In a post-match interview, Real Madrid’s manager, Zinedine Zidane, said his side had a bad day. “…after the goal, our game went down. Three penalties. Everything went against us today. It’s a bad match and a bad day,” Zidane further explained.
