Some Ghanaians have started forming queues at voting centers across the country in readiness to cast their ballots in this year’s general elections.
Our correspondents have been visiting some of the polling stations in the Eastern region and it is clear that Ghanaians are upbeat for the election which has been scheduled to start at 7 am.
At the New Juabeng constituency, some of the residents told our correspondents that their early arrival at the center was due to their anxiety to vote hence they were unable to sleep. More than 20 people had queued in anticipation of voting for their favorite candidates.
About 190 polling centers exist in the New Juaben South Constituency has 190 with 92,369 electorates.

The Municipal Electoral Officer, Kofi Owusu, in an interview said materials have been deployed to the various polling stations and the voting process is expected to start by 7am.
At the Christ Embassy polling station at American House in the Ayawaso West constituency in the Greater Accra region, correspondents report that some enthusiastic voters had used stones and broken tables to form queues. The same was the situation at the AMSA center at Adentan.
In all, Ghanaians are expected to vote for some 275 people across the country to become their representatives in parliament.
This year’s election is unique because the two major political parties in the country presented a sitting President and a former President as their candidate.
Ahead of the election, the two major political parties have signed a peace pact to ensure that their followers do not foment any form of violence in the country and will willingly accept defeat when they are voted against.
Reports have suggested similar queues in polling stations all over the country.
