Left to rot, the sad story of Oseikojokrom Uniiq 95.1 fm

UNIIQ 95.1 fm is a government radio station in Sefwi Oseikojokrom of the Western North Region that serves Bia West, Bia East and some parts of Bono Region.

This same radio station serves the above Districts with Ghana Television (GTV) content.

Sadly, the radio station has been left to rot and unattended to since 2017 immediately the new government took over.

Our checks revealed that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected power supply to the radio station because they were not able to pay their electricity bills.

Close to three years now, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation has also failed to settle the debt they owed the Electricity Company of Ghana.

Our visit to the station spotted that the main gate leading to the reception has been locked with padlocks, and the compound was very bushy. It seems the place has been left unattended for a very long time.

All attempts to speak to the Local Director of UNIIQ 95.1 fm, Mr. Emmanuel Nsiah did not yield any positive result.

The youth of the community has formed an association named “Oseikojokrom Concern Youth Association” aimed to push for the coming back of the radio station. They have indeed vowed to do anything within their power to bring back the station.
