The 2023–24 MTN FA Cup finals will be held at the newly constructed Legon Sports Stadium in Accra, as announced by Wilson Arthur, the committee chairman.
The semi-final games, on the other hand, are scheduled to take place at the WAFA park in Sogakope.
In an exclusive interview with Akoma FM, Mr. Arthur elaborated on the factors influencing their decision-making process.
“After further discussions, we changed our original plan to hold the semi-finals and finals at the newly constructed Tarkwa TNA Stadium and Legon Stadium, respectively. However, the TNA stadium was not ready,” he said.
“We thought about going to Samarboi, but after some consultations, we decided that going to the Volta would be more helpful, so we went back to our backup plan, which was Sogakope,” he added.
Arthur expressed a preference for hosting the semi-finals and finals of the competition at Legon Stadium in the future.
He mentioned, “Despite, this year’s finals will be held at the Legon Stadium, we aim to designate this venue for the semi-final and final rounds of the competition in the future, subject to exco approval.”
The Legon Sports Stadium recently hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2023 African Games. It also served as a focal point for track and field events and hosted several matches in the Men’s football competition.
