Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on workers across the country to support his transformative vision in order to turn the fortunes of the country around when given the nod in the December 7 presidential elections.
In his message to Ghanaian workers on International Wrokers’ Day, May Day, John Dramani Mahama extended his warm regards to hardworking Ghanaians while acknowledging their tireless contributions to the nation’s development and progress.
“‘Ayekoo’ to every hardworking Ghanaian! Your dedication to maintaining fair and peaceful elections is not only a duty but a shared responsibility essential for our nation’s stability and prosperity,”
The former President emphasized the crucial role workers play in fostering a peaceful, democratic process, especially as the country approaches the 2024 elections. He expressed concern about the severe challenges facing the country due to poor governance, incompetence, economic mismanagement, and institutionalized corruption under the current administration.
However, Mr. Mahama expressed confidence in the ability of Ghanaians to overcome these challenges, drawing from his experience as President, when he steered the nation through similarly challenging times. He outlined his vision for Ghana’s recovery, including the implementation of his proposed 24-hour economy policy, which targets to generate sustainable job opportunities, promote growth, and empower the workforce.
“I am prepared to work with you again to commence the vital repair work our country needs after enduring such turbulence. We have achieved progress before, and I am confident we can do so again”
He urged Ghanaians to support his transformative vision, which promises to revitalize the job market and foster long-term sustainable development. Mr. Mahama emphasized the importance of upholding workers’ rights and ensuring peaceful and fair presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Let’s commit to ensuring that our upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections are conducted peacefully and fairly, with a steadfast focus on upholding workers’ rights. Together, we can forge a brighter future for Ghana—a future that secures both your present and addresses the risks posed to your SSNIT pensions by the current government,” Mahama said.
“Happy Workers’ Day to all! Let’s build the Ghana we all want together” the flagbearer of the NDC concluded
