Mahama’s 2016 defeat was his political retirement – Ntim Fordjour

According to him, Mahama’s ascension from Vice President to President and losing the elections is an indication that Ghanaians have sent him on political retirement.

John Dramani Mahama’s outright rejection by Ghanaians in the 2016 elections is a political retirement for him from Ghanaians, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, has stated.

He says Mahama’s abject defeat in the 2016 polls was due to his poor performance coupled with lack of ideas for development, making him the first president in the history of the Fourth Republic to be rejected by the people after his first term.

According to him, Mahama’s ascension from Vice President to President and losing the elections is an indication that Ghanaians have sent him on political retirement.

Speaking to the media after filing his nomination at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) office in the Assin South constituency, he reemphasised that the NDC is synonymous to retrogression, saying what President Kufuor did was destroyed by Mills and Mahama.

The Deputy Education Minister stated that John Mahama lacks new ideas for any development for the citizenry and must be rejected come December.

“Kufuor set this nation on the path of development only to be destroyed by late President Mills and Mahama. That’s why we voted against him (Mahama) after his first term in the history of our Fourth Republic.

“But when it comes to Dr. Bawumia, his knowledge on the economy and digitalisation mindset will help us develop as a nation. Bawumia is the future of this country when it comes to development. Mahama is in the past. He has had the opportunity to be Vice President and President and Ghanaians have retired him so he needs to stay home for the best Vice President in the Fourth Republic to become President,” the lawmaker stated.

He has asked them to reject the opposition’s reset agenda led by its flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, and go for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he says has what it takes to put Ghana on the path of development.

According to him, voting for John Mahama and the NDC will hinder progress in the constituency and the country at large.

“The development of this constituency depends on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who would become President. If you vote for Mahama…, he did not remember Assin South in any of the things he did here, including his E-blocks so he will not do any proper thing for this place.

“So, on December 07, we should vote massively for Dr. Bawumia and give him at least 80% of the votes because he is humble, truthful and he knows Assin South and whenever he comes, he helps us,” Ntim Fordjour admonished.
