The bill has sharply divided the two sides of the House and has even degenerated into fisticuffs at a point.

On the floor of the House today, Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the bill was brought before the House for consideration and subsequent approval.

After a series of back and forth, the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu in rounding up the debate on his side, led the NDC MPs to boycott the process, insisting that the Levy seeks to deprive the poor Ghanaians and the Minority will not be part of it.

The Majority from the onset urged for the passage if the Bill and urged the government to withdraw it completely.
