Mama Setriakor Initiative Brings Joy to Kids in Ketu North

The children were visibility excited at the gesture and expressed hope that they will see more of such kindness and benevolence in the future.

Over five thousand children drawn from various communities within the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region have benefited from the Mama Setriakor Initiative for children, a non-govermental organization (NGO) which for over 15 years has supported vulnerable children and initiated community development projects in the Ketu North enclave.

Spearheaded by its founder and Executive Director, Mama Setriakor I of Tadzewu, presented exercises books, stationery, school uniforms, school bags, used clothing and several assorted items to the kids.

The children were also fed with sumptuous hot meals, in a bid to put smiles on the faces of the children, who for some unexplained reasons do not have loving parents to take care of them resulting in some of them dropping out of school and becoming delinquents who engage in social vices, preventing them from becoming useful adults, contributing meaningfully to nation building.

Mama Setriakor I, who spoke on the sidelines of the event, observed that, many people only remembered vulnerable children during festive seasons like Easter, Christmas and the New Year festivities and appealed for a change in the status quo. She further appealed to well-meaning individuals and benevolent organizations to support the initiative “so that together we can continue to put smiles on the faces of these lovely young ones.”

The children were visibility excited at the gesture and expressed hope that they will see more of such kindness and benevolence in the future.
