A man, believed to be Collins Jones, has reportedly set himself on fire after attempts to kill his wife, Martina Jones, failed.
The incident is said to have happened at Abeka in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.
According to reports, Jones pounced on his wife in an attempt to strangle her to death while she was asleep at dawn on Monday.
However, Martina is said to have escaped from the grips of her husband after struggling with him, leading to her sustaining varying degrees of injuries.
Reports indicated that Collins Jones, after realizing the consequences of what he had done, locked and set himself on fire in their room.
Narrating how the incident occurred to Adom FM, she said “I was deep asleep and felt that someone had hit my forehead with a pestle so I begged him not to kill me because our children are not grown. So, after struggling with him for some time, I managed to escape to the police station to file a report,” she said.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that Collins Jones, who had also sustained injuries due to the burns was also rushed to hospital before he was pronounced dead.
