Mark Okraku Mantey can’t help music industry – Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale says veteran music producer and artiste manager Mark Okraku Mantey cannot help grow the music industry.

According to him, the CEO of Slip Entertainment and the former president of the Creative Arts Agency does not have knowledge about the industry to assist in its growth.

In a Facebook Live broadcast, he stated that if Mr Okraku Mantey was the music connoisseur as he has been touted, he would have put structures in place for artistes when he was made president of the Creative Arts Agency.

We have not forced government to structure our music industry for us and so when we are there we will be hearing things like they want to take Mark Okraku Mantey as deputy minister for Tourism Arts and Culture.”

We can’t live in an industry where we are moved by people who don’t even have the knowledge, who don’t know technology, who don’t know things about the music industry.”

Shatta Wale said Ghanaians are just obsessed with giving people titles when they have no merits.

His comment comes after rumours that the Slip Entertainment CEO will be appointed as the next Deputy Minister for Tourism Arts and Culture.

But speaking his mind on the issue, Shatta Wale said such an appointment does not make any sense and discouraged people from supporting the call.

The Melissa hitmaker added, “he can’t help us.”

The controversial singer said he is better qualified to take on any role that has to do with pushing the music agenda than Mr Okraku Mantey.

“If they claim they have been there before me, they should show me a structure they have created that has helped the industry.

“Mark Okraku Mantey should come and show me the structure he has created to help the industry,” he said.
