Mason, 30, allegedly kills Girlfriend, 2 Children and runs away

In a shocking turn of events, the Asuoso community in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region finds itself reeling from a tragic incident that has left them in mourning.

The police are now in hot pursuit of a 30-year-old mason, known only as Shadrack or Kwaata, following his alleged involvement in the murder of his girlfriend and her two young children.

The devastating incident happened on Monday, January 29, 2024, sending shockwaves through the tight-knit community. The victims have been identified as 25-year-old Portia Yerebe, her four-year-old son Nti Joseph, and her two-week-old baby.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions had escalated between Shadrack and his girlfriend on the previous Sunday night, culminating in a heated altercation. Witnesses report that Shadrack demanded Portia to vacate their shared residence, but she adamantly refused.

The grim discovery was made the following morning when Portia’s mother arrived to tend to her newborn grandchild, only to find the door firmly locked. Concerned by the absence of any response, she returned later in the day, only to find the door still sealed shut. Alarmed by the unusual silence, community leaders were summoned, and upon gaining entry to the premises, they were met with a scene of unimaginable horror.

Tragically, the lifeless bodies of Portia Yerebe and her two innocent children were found within the confines of their home. Initial observations suggest that Portia had sustained fatal wounds inflicted by a sharp object, while her children displayed signs consistent with poisoning, notably foaming at the mouth.

As the investigation intensifies, Shadrack remains at large, prompting a widespread manhunt led by law enforcement agencies. Meanwhile, the bodies of the victims have been transported to Nkenkaasu Government Hospital for further examination, including autopsies to ascertain the precise cause of death and preservation procedures.
