This abuse of power and misapplication of state funds by the beleaguered Director General is in sharp contravention of the laws governing corporate governance and public Financial management Act which stipulates that public resources must be well protected and allocated.

Unimpeachable information stumbled upon by your authoritative Newsflashafrica.com reveals that the Director General of Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi is allegedly engaged in a massive looting enterprise at the Authority, in what appears to be a  laissez-faire posture by the governing board and appointing authority who are failing to call the Director General to order.

Evidential proof which is at the possession of Newsflashafrica.com further reveals that the Director General has thrown all financial management laws to the dogs and resorted to abuse of power and corruption, some of which include unjustifiably causing the Finance team to pay him averagely gh 100,000.00 monthly for visiting his Constituency, Builsa North where he is contesting as the NPP Parliamentary candidate.

Below are evidences of the “chop chop”

This abuse of power and misapplication of state funds by the beleaguered Director General is in sharp contravention of the laws governing corporate governance and public Financial management Act which stipulates that public resources must be well protected and allocated.

Many staff of the GMA who have become diffident and silent for fear of victimization have questioned the basis for those unjustifiable colossal monies paid to Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi arguing that the DG’s trips to the upper East region specifically Builsa North are personal rather than official hence must be made to refund all those monies.

“For the past 2 years every other weekend when the DG is visiting his constituency as an aspirant to the Builsa north constituency on the ticket of the NPP he personally writes a memo for the Authority to finance his trip to the Upper East and he conveniently makes official trip to Upper East. On the average every other month he takes not less than 100,000 from the Authority s coffers e.g. find below as evidence of payments made to him on weekly basis”, the source, who is a long time staff told this Editor in anger.

The source could not fathom why Mr. Alonsi would cancel their service entitlements due them yet causes fat cheques to be written in his name.

As if that is not enough Mr. Alonzi who is the NPP Parliamentary Candidate is alleged to have instructed for the payment of 20,000.00 into a momo account of a group calling itself women in chemistry, in fragrant violation of good corporate practices.

The Director General, among other abuse of power and corporate Infractions, is accused of paying 60 percent of $14,000 contract to a Selbian company with no work done.

Questions aggrieved staff are asking is that who is the beneficiary of what they described as voodoo contract.

“This is a contract of almost $14,000 to VLATACOM to install State of the
Art Equipment In The Authority VTMIS but as we speak 60 Percent Payment
has been made to the Serbian Company but No Work Has Even Started for the delivery of the Contract”, the source, who corroborated his claim with documentary proof, noted.

With this glaringly naked stinking evidence of abuse of power coupled with wanton profligacy, intimidation and needless transfer of dissenting staff, the continuous stay in office by Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi goes to cement beliefs by staff that corruption no longer attract attention of the current government and that he may be engaging in that malfeasance to satisfy his paymasters.

But one thing is clear, the Newsflashafrica.com will continue to hold public officials accountable and expose the rots in the public space regardless of who is involved.
