Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, in the Ashanti Region, on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha, has sent warm regards to the Muslim Community in the area.
“May His Merciful Allah accept your sacrifice as you mark all this important day and may continue to pray for Manhyia South, Asanteman and Ghana as you always do,’’ he said in a message.
“Let us endeavour to continue to live as one large family with unity and peaceful co-existence as we are one people with common destiny,’’ he said.
Dr. Prempeh, who is the Minister of Energy, assured the Muslim Community of his continued support, saying “I will never turn against the people of Manhyia South.’’
He urged measured celebrations with serious observation of all COVID-19 protocols, as Ghana is not out of the woods as far as the deadly bug was concerned.
Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated across the world by Muslims to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifice of his son, Ismail. It falls on the twelfth and final month of the Islamic Calendar, Dhu-al-Hijjah.
The date for Eid-ul-Adha may vary between countries, as it is based on the lunar lightings.
