As Ghana marks its 68th Independence anniversary, the Minerals Development Fund (MDF) has reiterated its commitment to fostering the socio-economic development of mining communities across the country.
In a statement released to commemorate the occasion, the Administrator of the Fund, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw-Kotei emphasized that Ghana’s independence is not only a celebration of political sovereignty but also a reflection of the nation’s dedication to economic growth, sustainable development, and the overall well-being of its people.
“At MDF, we remain steadfast in our mandate to ensure that the wealth generated from minerals contributes meaningfully to the socio-economic transformation of mining communities and the nation at large,” the statement noted.
She highlighted the Fund’s strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and livelihood programs as part of efforts to empower communities and shape a sustainable future.
“As we commemorate this historic day, we reaffirm our dedication to responsible mineral resource management, transparency, and the equitable distribution of mining benefits,” the statement added.
The MDF urged all stakeholders to work collaboratively to ensure that Ghana’s natural resources translate into lasting progress for all citizens.
The Fund also extended well wishes to all Ghanaians on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day celebration, encouraging a continued commitment to national development and economic prosperity.
