Former Member of Parliament for Asokwa has described the NDC Minority in Parliament as a bunch of an ineffective group that specializes in noise-making.
According to the CEO of GIHOC Distilleries, the Minority has not been able to keep the Executive on its toes.
Speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Starr FM, Maxwell Kofi Jumah said the current structure of the Legislature cannot allow the Minority to deliver on its mandate.
“…Oh no, they haven’t delivered, they are a slogan-shouting bunch of friends and that is what it is. They’ve not been effective at all,…they are making noise shouting slogans and can’t stand up to any in-depth discussion now. What are they debating? they are not talking about anything just making noise.
“…They cannot hold the government in check like I told you we have institutional problems in our parliamentary system. You can have a very brilliant Minority guy but there’s very little he can do just because the system itself is not good. Let’s say you are a brilliant economist and they put you on the Finance Committee. You’re going to face a whole ministry of say Finance without researches to help you. How are you going to be able to give off your best? So when I say it’s institutional that’s what I mean. You may be a good driver with a bad car.”
