I have no Interest in becoming the next Minority Leader – Ablakwa sets record straight

“Kindly dismiss and treat with utter contempt those treacherous flyers making the rounds on social media purportedly describing me as incoming Minority Leader.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Tongu Constituency and Ranking Member the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has distanced himself from fliers that feature his image, with the inscription; ‘incoming minority leader’.

The fliers have been making rounds on social media a day after US-based Ghanaian journalist, Kevin Ekow-Baidoo Taylor accused the current leadership of the NDC parliamentary caucus of working against former president John Mahama.

According to Ablakwa, he has absolutely no interest in becoming the next Minority Leader of Parliament. He added that he’s not even thinking of it.

“Kindly dismiss and treat with utter contempt those treacherous flyers making the rounds on social media purportedly describing me as incoming Minority Leader.

I have NO such interest. Needless to add that I am certainly not in consideration or available for consideration as frontline leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament”, a statement GhanaVanguard.com sighted on NDC Deputy Youth Organizer Edem Agbana’s facebook wall reads.

The well-cherished MP further cautioned those behind the fliers to stop, saying: “Those who seek to sow seeds of mistrust, disunity and discord within our ranks with such pathetically infantile schemes have already failed and will always fail.”

Hon. Ablakwa believes also that the ‘faceless’ people behind the fliers have an agenda aimed at derailing “…our focus in pursuing the rape of the public purse and the gross mismanagement of the country will not prevail.”
