A security analyst has alleged that political figures were behind the disappearance of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers, 40 of which have now been located.

Renowned security consultant Richard Komadoe claims the missing containers were not misplaced but deliberately sold to an Indian national. Speaking on Ahotor FM with Nana Dogbey, he dismissed claims of logistical errors or security lapses, calling the incident “pure fraud and criminality.”

“These containers didn’t simply vanish. People knew exactly what they were doing and where they were taking them,” Mr. Komadoe stated. He added that the containers were removed from the port either before the new government took office or during the transition period.

He strongly refuted suggestions that the disappearance resulted from mismanagement, insisting instead that it was a coordinated scheme. “Containers are not birds to fly away,” he said. “This was a deliberate act to bypass the system.”

Mr. Komadoe also alleged that members of ECG’s board played a role in the scandal by authorizing questionable transactions. According to him, the containers were sold to Indian and Chinese nationals in a corrupt deal orchestrated by certain board members.

“These individuals signed off on the sale, took the money, and knowingly betrayed the trust of Ghanaians,” he asserted.

Calling for urgent action, Mr. Komadoe urged authorities to arrest those responsible and recover the lost funds. “These criminals must be jailed or made to return the stolen billions to Ghana,” he said, expressing frustration over the lack of enforcement.

He criticized officials who failed to intervene, stating, “If you saw this happening and did nothing, you are even more dangerous than the perpetrators.”

His revelations have intensified public outrage, with calls for a thorough investigation to hold both political and corporate actors accountable.
