A delegation of investors from the Kingdom of Morocco, led by the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Mrs. Imane Ouaadil, paid a courtesy visit to the Majority Leader of Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The Moroccan business delegation, representing key sectors such as food retail, mining, telecommunications, banking, and renewable energy, expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities in Ghana.
Speaking on behalf of Anmeta, one of Africa’s largest holding companies, the delegation highlighted their vision for strengthening South-South collaboration and contributing to Africa’s economic growth. Representatives of leading Moroccan companies also introduced themselves, including Yassine Marcille from Marjan Company (food retail), Mohamed Seguin from Marjan’s mining division, Faisal Khiar from INU (a major telecommunications provider), and Nabil Kadiri from Tijani Wafa Bank, which operates across 14 African countries.
Additionally, the delegation featured Maudi Ababir, who is spearheading efforts to establish a Ghana-Moroccan Business Council to enhance business collaborations between the two nations.
Ambassador Imane Quaadil expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to deepening business relationships with Ghana. She emphasized the delegation’s desire to collaborate with Ghana’s government and private sector to address economic challenges and unlock potential growth opportunities.
Hon. Ayariga welcomed the strengthening ties between Ghana and Morocco and shared his personal connection with the North African nation, recalling his participation in an international moot court competition in Oujda over two decades ago. He also noted his continued engagements with Morocco, particularly during discussions on its potential membership in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Highlighting Ghana’s commitment to fostering stronger business relationships across Africa, Hon. Ayariga outlined the structure of Ghana’s Parliament and government, emphasizing the cooperation between the legislature, executive, and judiciary in creating a conducive business environment.
As the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, he assured the Moroccan investors of Parliament’s support in facilitating investment, stressing the critical role of foreign investment in economic growth, job creation, and national development.
He further underscored the vast opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which he believes will create a seamless market for businesses across the continent. He reiterated Ghana’s openness to investment, particularly from African partners, and assured the Moroccan delegation of the government’s full support in pursuing their ventures within the country.
