Member of Parliament (MP) for the Binduri Constituency in the Upper East Region, Hon. Dr. Robert B. Kuganab-Lem has undertaken an expansion of major health facilities in the area.
The upgrading which was carried out through the MP National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Fund for Special Projects included the expansion of a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to include rooms for maternity services and a pavilion for Child Welfare Clinic (CWC) at Tansia CHPS.
The Azum-Sapeliga, Atuba and Kukparugu CHPS as well as Goore Health Centre were all renovated. A solar lightening system was installed at the Kukparugu CHPS compound while part of the money was also used to complete a community initiated CHPS compound at Narango.
A report titled, “Report on 2018 MP NHIA Funds for Special Health Projects – Binduri Constituency” sighted by Ghananewsonline.com.gh signed by Samuel Y. Angyogdem, District Director of Health Service for Binduri said the expansion works were carried out at a cost of GH₵60,000.
The upgrading and facelift means such health facilities will now have resident midwives who can conduct deliveries and perform reproductive and child health services.
The Binduri Health Director commended Dr. Kuganab-Lem for the gesture as it will strengthen health services in the district and appealed for more support.
Dr. Kuganab-Lem, a member of the Health and Judicial Committee in Ghana’s Parliament said in an interview he is very much passionate about reproductive health issues and sees it as a privilege to contribute his quota in improving the conditions of his people.
He assured his constituents he will not relent in efforts at working towards improving every facet of life of people living in the area.
