Honorable Member of Parliament (MP) for the Shai-Osudoku Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Linda Obenewa Akweley Ocloo, on Wednesday disbursed some Ghc250,000 to 30 people in her constituency who have gained admission into the various tertiary institutions in the country. It is to support them in paying their fees.
The MP told the beneficiaries that her efforts are to help in developing the human resource capital in the Constituency. She entreated them to take their lessons seriously as the people of Shai-Odoku would not forgive them if they fail to lift high the flag for the district in academic performance.
She revealed that the package which is not the full component of their school fees but to help minimize the financial burden on parents and guardians is being funded from her own pocket and a little from the MP’s Common Fund.
“These package is geared towards promoting education and recognizing the fact that education remains the bedrock of social change and development. I shall endeavor to pay my dues by sponsoring as many as 1,100 of my constituents from my MP’s Common Fund,” she promised.
She reiterated her commitment to honoring her campaign promises as she revealed most of her plans to transform the constituency including infrastructure and human resource development.

“I’m committed to honoring my campaign promises of promoting education, particularly, at the tertiary level for the benefit of the residents of the Shai-Osudoku Constituency,” she stated.
She is convinced that when many constituents are supported at the tertiary level to complete their courses of study, they will in return teach students at the basic level, subsequently, entreating them to justify the financial support they have received and study diligently towards a bright future.
Mathias Agamah – a beneficiary, on behalf of his colleagues expressed gratitude for the kind gesture of the MP. She said they have nicknamed her “the mother of development”.
“I wish to express our sincerest gratitude to you ‘our mother of development’ as we all call you for these wonderful package given us, on behalf of my colleagues I promise we will not disgrace you, we shall take our lessons seriously in order to help our juniors in this district,” he pledged.
