MP for South Dayi launches Inter Schools Quiz Debate Competition

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Dayi constituency in the Volta Region, Rockson-Nelson Etse Dafeamekpor, has launched an Inter Schools Quiz and Debate Competition among Schools in the district under the theme “Liberating the Talents of Our Future Leaders”.

During the launch, the Regional Director of Education, Madam Afi Amafuga, on behalf of the Regional Chief Inspector of Schools  said, the timing is laudable and it is the best since “it will arouse interest of the students to learn since they have been at home as a result of COVID-19 for some time, and this will go a long way to improve their performance”.

He applauded the MP for taking such a bold initiative and urged him to keep on with the good work.

The District Director of Education for South Dayi, Victor Kwaku Kovey, in his welcome address shared with the gathering how the MP has been supporting education ever since his appointment as the District Director, though he has head of other interventions that  he  has been given to support education before his arrival in the district.

He used the opportunity to praise the unity that is at display between the District Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament and urged them to keep the spirit on since it is good for development.

He further promised to ensure that the Quiz and Debate competition is well organized and sustained.

The District Chief Executive, Godwin K. Dzadzawa in his address said, “in South Dayi the ultimate aim of me and the Member of Parliament, Mr  Rockson is to bring development to the people and that is what we stand for regardless of our political differences,” as he urged the people of South Dayi to be more united for this purpose.

The MP who was the Guest of Honor and the Official sponsor of the Inter Schools Quiz and Debate competition was full of joy for the turn-out and the commitment of the various Schools.

He said it has always been his desire to see the younger ones who are the future leaders’ rise up to become responsible adults.

He was hopeful that, in the near future South Dayi would be able to produce competent Lawyers, Accountants, Lectures and other responsible professions.

“There are a lot of hidden talents in our young students and that needs to be harnessed,” he added.
