The Third Meeting of the Second Session of the Eight Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana is set to officially resume on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 10am in the forenoon at the Parliament House in Accra.
Ahead of that, preparatory activities have been going on all around the Parliament building. Some of the activities include the fixing of sophisticated security equipment like scanners within the Parliament precincts of the Chamber block and the Lobby as well as the entrance to the main Parliament Chamber.
Finishing touches are also being put on the renovation works of the Speaker’s Block situated almost at the center of the Job 600 building – this highly visible to anyone entering the premises of the legislative enclave.
It was also observed that the renovation works which have been ongoing for a while now, is also gradually being finished, the Chinese contractors are virtually off-site, except for few workers who were seen removing the scaffolds mounted for the painting of the building.
The sea blue blended cream-colored painting of the Speaker’s block, contrasts nicely with the blue tinted glass multi-story building Job 600 office accommodations for Members of Parliament and some essential staff of the Parliamentary Service.
The beautifully trimmed flowers along the edges of the mowed green grass at the forecourt of Parliament gives extreme beauty to the exterior of the enclave and appears ready to welcome the Parliamentarians back to their parliamentary business.
Last week, the Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Kate Addo, issued a release about the official commencement of the Meeting in which she announced that a “total of 66 Bills are expected to be presented before the House.”
The release named some of the Bills to include: the Affirmative Action Bill, 2022; Ghana Housing Authority Bill, 2022; Minerals and Mining (Amendment) Bill, 2022; Small Scale Mining Bill, 2022; and the Petroleum Revenue Management (Amendment Bill), 2022.
Also, a Private Members Bill on the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana (Amendment) Bill, 2021, which was referred to the Council of State will be presented before the House.
