MTN Ghana Foundation Commissions Maternity and NICU Complex for Keta Government Hospital

"This monumental project, funded by the MTN Ghana Foundation, marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to build maternal and child health outcomes in our beloved country.

MTN Ghana Foundation, the humanitarian arm of telecoms giant MTN Ghana has commissioned and handed over a 40-bed maternity and a 20-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to the Keta Government Hospital.

The newly constructed facility valued at GH¢15.2M comprised a a range of essential services, including Reception, Consultation rooms, Laboratory and Scan Rooms, Emergency and Delivery wards, Minor Theater, Major Theatre Scrub & Sluice, Room, Anesthetics Room, Intensive Care Ward and NICU units, Staff Eatery and Electrical and Power Room.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the premises of the hospital, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTN Ghana, Selorm Adadevoh said the MTN Ghana Foundation has always been dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities it serve, and “the construction of the new state-of-the-art Maternity and NICU Complex exemplifies our unwavering commitment to this mission, with an investment of 15.2 million Ghana Cedis. This ultra-modern facility is equipped to provide essential care and support to mothers and newborns, ensuring their well-being and fostering healthier futures for generations to come.”

The journey towards the realization of this project began with the symbolic sod-cutting ceremony on December 20th, 2022. Since then, tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have been poured into its construction, with the aim of completing it within 48 weeks. Today, I am delighted to announce that our collective endeavors have borne fruit, and the project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and determination.

It is a sign of fulfilling our cooperate social responsibility. We therefore express our gratitude to MTN foundation in the journey towards enhancing good healthcare delivery and maternal and child health outcomes in Keta and its environs.

As we gather to mark this momentous occasion, let us reflect on the impact that this facility will have on the lives of countless mothers and newborns across our nation. Let us renew our commitment to advancing healthcare access and ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to thrive and flourish,” Adadevoh said.

Volta regional director of health, Dr Chrysantus Kubio, for his part, commended MTN Ghana Foundation for constructing the facility which he said would augment efforts by government in the provision of quality and affordable healthcare services across the country.

He expressed the regional health directorate’s commitment to partnering MTN Ghana Foundation in future endeavors.

Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey on behalf of the residents, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana Foundation for the support, which he said could not have come at a better time.

He called on residents of the area to take advantage of the facility, to improve upon maternal and child health care delivery outcomes in the area.
