MTN Ghana tops them all at 35th CIMG Awards

MTN Ghana’s recognition at the CIMG Awards solidifies its leadership in the telecommunications industry and highlights the company’s marketing strategies that resonate with consumers across the country.

MTN Ghana emerged as one of the biggest winners at the 35th Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Awards, securing three prestigious accolades, which was the highest number of awards won by one entity this year. 

The telecommunications giant was named the Marketing Oriented Telecommunications Company of the Year 2023, Overall Marketing Oriented Company of the Year, and was also inducted into the CIMG Hall of Fame – Telecommunications Category.

The awards were received on behalf of MTN by Guido Sopiimeh, MTN Ghana’s General Manager for Marketing Planning, who acknowledged the company’s commitment to excellence in marketing and customer service.

Team MTN Ghana at the 35th CIMG Awards

Even though MTN has been named a signification market power (SMP) and is currently under some regulatory restrictions, designed to curtail its growth, the company continues to invest aggressively and innovate its offerings and keeps growing market share in leaps and bounds.

At the time of naming MTN Ghana SMP in June 2020, the regulator reported that it had 55% voice market share. But that has since increased to about 70% and its mobile data market share has also increased from around 72% to over 80% in spite of being compelled to increase data prices.

It is MTN’s commitment to innovation and strategies that have kept it endeared to consumers in spite of the regulatory restrictions, that has gained ’s recognition.

The CIMG Awards, held annually, are regarded as a hallmark of excellence in the marketing industry, recognizing top performers in various sectors.

This year’s edition saw a wide array of companies, individuals, and products honored for their outstanding contributions to the marketing landscape.
