MUSIGA honours controversial journalist Anas as anti-corruption star

Ghana’s most decorated investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas is wrapping up year 2019 with yet another honour.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) on Friday honoured him as anti-corruption star for the major role he has played in fighting corruption in society.

The controversial African journalist, who is the CEO of Tiger Eye PI, expressed gratitude for the honour, saying it spurs him on to do more.

The MUSIGA executives gave him a citation as part of the honour.

“As an anti-corruption crusader, your work with Tiger Eye Productions has contributed and continues to contribute immensely to our fight as a nation against corruption.

“Your analytical attention to detail and your constant striving to ensure that politicians and all duty bearers deliver on their mandate while eschewing corruption has endeared you to many a Ghanaian. Indeed, your status in our national discourse is epitomised by the term “Anas Principle” which is used to describe your style of investigative journalism,” the citation read in part.

A few weeks ago, Anas was also awarded at the maiden Ghana NiBs Innovations Awards, recognised for his outstanding contribution to the economy of Ghana.

The NiBs Innovation Awards seeks to recognise individuals and organisations that contribute in significant, sustainable and innovative ways, towards the forward march of Ghanaian industry.

Speaking to the Press after receiving the award, Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas expressed gratitude for the recognition, and reiterated his commitment towards the fight against corruption, and to stay true to his mission of naming, shaming and (helping) jail the bad guys in society.

The next day, November 23, at the 70th anniversary Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards under the patronage of HE Dr. Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana, held at the Kempinski Hotel, Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas was again recognised for his outstanding contribution to the development of journalism in Ghana and beyond. Commenting on his award, Mr. Anas Aremeyaw Anas paid glowing tribute to his forebearers; Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, Kwesi Pratt, Komla Dumor, Ben Epson, Kabral Blay Amihere, and particularly Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, through whom he cut his journalistic teeth.

“I can never be greater than him”, Anas said, in reference to his mentor, Kweku Baako.
