The Board of Trustees of the controversial Ghana National Cathedral currently under construction by President Akufo-Addo and his government has issued a resolution reaffirming the significance of the project.

The draft resolution sighted by Ghananewsonline.com.gh and sponsored by two members of the Cathedral Board, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams of the Action Chapel International, and Rev. Eastwood Anaba of the Fountain Gate Chapel stated in part that

“the Cathedral envisioned by President Akufo-Addo is a project of historic significance with a multiplicity of faith, social, community and economic benefits to Ghana – The National Cathedral aims to provide a sacred space and infrastructure for formal religious and other activities in Ghana such as state funerals and presidential inaugural services and global gatherings such as peace and reconciliation meetings and international summits that advance faith, peace, stability and a better world”.

The draft resolution further observed that there nearly 685 million Christians in Africa as of 2021, with 760 million more expected by 2025 – African Christians therefore represent the region’s largest affinity group, with the number expected to grow even larger if the millions of African Christians in North America and the European diaspora were included.
