The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has confirmed that the Editor of the Current Issues newspaper, Mr. Prosper Agbenyega, was on Monday afternoon invited and interrogated by officials of the National Security over a recent publication involving “classified documents”.
According to PRINPAG, Mr. Agbenyega was invited on Monday, April 7, 2025, and engaged with National Security operatives for about three hours.
In a statement issued by the PRINPAG National Secretariat on Monday, the Association indicated that it had engaged with Mr. Agbenyega following his appearance before the National Security.
“The PRINPAG National Secretariat wishes to inform members that we have spoken with our colleague, Mr. Prosper Agbenyega, Editor of Current Issues newspaper, following his invitation and appearance at the National Security premises earlier today,” the statement said.
PRINPAG further noted that Mr. Agbenyega had since returned safely and in good health, describing the engagement as cordial and professional.
“The discussion, which lasted for about three hours, centred on a publication he made last week concerning some classified documents,” the statement explained.
PRINPAG confirmed that Mr. Agbenyega was neither charged nor arrested, and no bail conditions were imposed on him.
The Association also expressed appreciation to its members for their concern and solidarity.
