A New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group, Delta Forces, which has allegedly been integrated into the country’s National Security system, on Wednesday attacked and beat up some staff of the LeKMA General Hospital at Teshie in the Greater Accra Region. Their crime was that they did not come out to haiil President Akufo-Addo for his “good works”.
According to eye witnesses who narrated the incident to our roving reporters at the scene of the incident, the purported “national security guys” came asking why the hospital workers were not out there to welcome President Akufo-Addo who was in the area as part of his Greater Accra tour.
Trainee nurses who were unable to come out to hail President Akufo-Addo due to their workload were also not spared.
Another person also narrated how “the Akufo-Addo vigilante boys” heckled people who were seen not to be showing any interest in the President’s visit, but busy attending to patients.
The people told ghananewsonline.com.gh that one guy who claimed to be part of “the Akufo-Addo national security” run after a young man who works at the hospital and slapped him severally for questioning why taxis were parked indiscriminately in front of the hospital as if there is no law and order.
“Can’t you see that President Akufo-Addo is here to inspect the state of your roads, and instead of you people coming out to welcome him, you are talking trash,” one of the “Akufo-Addo security guys” said to the young man while beating him.
Some of the taxi drivers said they were told Akufo-Addo was visiting to inspect the road under construction in front of the hospital in and so they have all gone there to see and that was why they abandoned their cars.
After beating the young man who is a worker at the hospital, the ‘National Security guy’ came back to the hospital with his colleagues to attack and beat up some other staff and the hospital’s security men on duty.
As at yesterday evening, the whereabout of the victim could not be traced.
