The NDC has dodged a bullet after patching things up with Obrempong Danso Abeam II, the Chief of Dromankese, following a major blowout that saw curses thrown at flagbearer John Dramani Mahama and some of his top lieutenants!
It all kicked off when Mahama, on a campaign blitz in Bono East, gave the Dromankese Palace a miss – and the town’s elders were NOT happy. In a viral video, fuming chiefs complained they’d waited hours for the NDC top brass, only to be stood up! The snub led to the chiefs invoking some serious curses on Mahama, and his MPs, and even warning locals against casting their vote for the NDC in the upcoming December elections.
But fear not, disaster has been averted after cool heads from the NDC swooped in for talks. At the palace pow-wow, it was revealed that a massive cock-up by the organizers was behind the mix-up – nothing to do with Mahama ignoring the bigwigs of Dromankese!
Speaking after the showdown, Chief Obrempong Danso Abeam II said: “We now know that the former president’s no-show wasn’t a snub, but a communication slip-up. No disrespect was intended.”
Breathing a sigh of relief, he added: “We’ve accepted the NDC’s apology, and everything’s back on track. We appreciate the respect shown by their leadership.”
NDC big shot Nana Baffoe Sarkodie, who led the olive branch team, thanked the local leaders for their understanding and seized the moment to rally voters. “We’re grateful to the chiefs and people of Dromankese. We urge everyone to vote massively for Mahama and the NDC on December 7th. Let’s make sure every vote counts to bring the change we all want.”
Joining the charm offensive were members of the NDC’s Council of Elders, along with regional and constituency leaders, all determined to smooth things over and get the town back on the NDC bus before polling day.
