The National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Capt. Joshua Hamidu Akamba, energized and inspired the members of the party in the Diaspora who are now more than ever ready to die and do more for the Party. Hon. Akamba addressed members of the NDC in the Diaspora over the weekend during the virtual commemoration of the 29th anniversary of the Party organized by the NDC Germany Dachverband (The NDC Chapter in Germany).
The programme was attended by members of the NDC in the Diaspora, notably from the UK/Ireland, Japan, Qatar, Italy, France, the Nordic Chapter, Holland, African Chapters, Australia, Austria, to mention a few. The occasion was under the chairmanship of Comrade Daniel Dake, the Germany NDC Dachverband chairman.
In his opening remarks, he reiterated his pride as an NDC member and, for that matter, NDC Germany Dachverband. He said it was the first in the history of NDC in Germany that three heavyweights of the NDC are speaking to them in the Diaspora. He reminded members that the NDC is a party for the masses, as such, the Party has done a lot to better the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian in many ways, including infrastructure, Education, Housing, the health sectors, among others.

“The Party has better plans for the growth of the country Ghana, and all must work to enable the NDC to win power to implement these plans. The International Relations Director of the Party, Alex Segbefia, on his part, thanked members in the Diaspora for their support to the party in diverse ways. He registered the gratitude of the national executives to members of the Diaspora for the roles they played during the just-ended elections. The Diaspora has more significant contributions to make for the growth of the Party and the development of Ghana,” he stated while thanking Germany NDC Dachverband for the initiative. He also called for more collaboration with other chapters for the Party’s growth in the Diaspora.
Main speaker for the occasion, Joshua Akamba, in the spirit of unity and all-inclusiveness geared towards victory 2024, recalled the history and identity of the Party. He mentioned that at the Party’s formation, Justice D. F. Annan was supposed to be the party presidential candidate with Flt. Lt. Rawlings as running mate, but it turned out later to be otherwise. He explained how the Party went into alliance with the NCP and other Nkrumasits parties. He explained the basis for which NDC is a congress and not just a political party, stating that “Every member of the Party has a role to play at any stage.”
He, therefore, challenged the Diaspora membership to take up their roles and responsibilities in the Party. “When we win elections, every diaspora member will be recognized. Our experience and knowledge will be needed to help implement the NDC agenda for the country’s growth,” he stated.
He recalled a few names of members of the NDC in the Diaspora who got appointed into NDC government positions, and they excelled in their respective fields.
Akamba discussed other issues related to the Party’s reorganization and the roles of the Diaspora members. He also addressed members on the arrangements towards the forthcoming nationwide outreach program of the Party, the extraordinary congress and invited the various diaspora chapters to participate in the exercise actively. He emphasized the need for diaspora chapters as stakeholders of the Party to close their ranks and rallying behind their various chapter leadership towards the rebuilding process for a comprehensive victory in the 2024 elections.
In attendance as a part of the representation of the National Headquarters were: Dr Karl Arhin, the Deputy Director, IRD, Madam Erna Stancy Aschauer, and Miss Grace Mensah, all of the International Relations Department.
Closing the programme, Comrade Dake recalled the areas of the media, engagement of the Diaspora in national and party development and asked all comrades to take advantage of the call by the National Organizer and contribute to the growth of the Party.
The anchor of the programme was Comrade Jerome Kpan, the secretary to NDC Germany Dachverband. The programme was carried live on AgyenkwaRadio Frankfurt and through the social media handle of Ben Wayo Mahama.
