A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) loyalists in the Ashanti Region has petitioned the police to investigate an alleged looting incident at the STC bus terminals in Oforikrom and Adum.
According to the group, they received information from an informant that some equipment at the terminals had gone missing.
Acting on this tip-off, they alerted the police and visited the premises to verify the claim. Upon arrival, they indicated that they discovered that several essential items, including power plants, car tyres, and other equipment, were unaccounted for.
Speaking on the matter, the leader of the group, Alhaji Nje, who is also a member of the Ashanti Regional Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Committee, stated that when they enquired about the missing power plant from the terminal administrator, he claimed it had been sent for repairs.
However, an engineer at the Oforikrom terminal contradicted this, stating that someone had earlier presented a receipt indicating that the plant had been sold.
Alhaji Nje further explained that the alleged looting case at the Oforikrom STC terminal has been reported to the Oforikrom Police Station for investigation, while the case at the Adum terminal is being handled by the Adum Divisional Police.
Alhaji also mentioned that as they await feedback from the police, some background checks and information gathering will be done before being forwarded to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team for further action.
“I had information earlier yesterday with pictures of some tyres and machines at the yard that they believe some of them are no more at the yard. So I moved in with some of the constituency executives of Oforikrom and then the task force leadership, but before we got there, we informed the police that this was the information that we had gotten from an informant.
“There is a plant there, and when we got there, the plant was not there, and they have burnt three brand new buses. It is very shocking, and so we told the police to investigate this, and we are also compiling our report to present it to the Operation Recover All Loot team.”
