Felix Odartey Lamptey, the 2024 parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, has asserted that the NDC’s infrastructure accomplishments surpass those of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), despite being in opposition.
During a recent campaign event, Felix Odartey Lamptey expressed confidence in the NDC’s record, stating that the NDC achievements in infrastructure development surpasses those of the NPP, which has dominated parliamentary and presidential elections in the constituency for the past 24 years.
Felix Odartey Lamptey, who has previously served as the NDC constituency secretary, emphasized the party’s dedication to infrastructure advancements within the Weija-Gbawe municipality.
He pointed to various successful projects undertaken during the previous NDC administration, including enhancements in roadways, healthcare, and education.
He highlighted the impact of NDC-led road projects in Weija and along crucial routes such as Top Base to Gbawe Junction, which he said have significantly improved connectivity and fostered economic growth within the area.
“The NDC has not historically been favored by the people of Weija-Gbawe for parliamentary representation, yet it has made remarkable strides in infrastructure, particularly in healthcare and education,”
He cited the construction of an accident center and a children’s ward at the Ekawe Government Hospital as significant contributions from the NDC.
He also noted that the only ambulance at the Ekawe Hospital was donated by the NDC, in addition to the establishment of a community health center in Oblogo.
In terms of educational facilities, Felix Odartey Lamptey argued that the NDC’s contributions stand unmatched by the NPP.
He mentioned several projects including a six-unit classroom block at the Oblogo Cluster of Schools, multi-story buildings at Weija L/A Primary and the Presby school, and structures at the Gbawe Methodist School Complex.
“I share these accomplishments to illustrate that the NDC has outperformed the NPP across all sectors in this constituency,” he said.
Additionally, Felix Odartey Lamptey underscored the NDC’s record in road construction, saying that any significant road development in Weija-Gbawe has been initiated by the NDC, with notable projects including the road from Weija Junction to Weija township and the route from Oblogo to Top Base to Gbawe Junction.
Felix Odartey Lamptey has therefore called on voters to thoughtfully evaluate the NDC’s performance and has also urged the constituents of Weija-Gbawe to consider the NDC’s achievements as they prepare to make their choices in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections.
