The MP who will be number one on the ballot for the May 13, 2023 Parliamentary poll was accompanied by hundreds of NDC supporters to the Regional Office at La in Accra, for her vetting which took place on April 3, 2023. They later converged at Dodowa for the official launch to enable her kickstart her campaign.
Announcing her success stories in the education and health sectors, Linda Akweley Ocloo, said, together, they have provided classroom infrastructure to many schools and lobbied for the construction of a health facility at Odumse as well as supported the Agortor Clinic Project
“today, we have connected many communities to the national grid than never before under the rural electrification project,” she stated.
On water projects, she mentioned that, she has extended water facilities to communities and with the support of an NGO has dug boreholes in communities without access to the services of the Ghana Water Company Limited
“I also lobbied many Water Closet facilities to communities in the Constituency. We have recently commissioned the Djabletey Water Closet Toilet facility”.
According to her, key aspect of her achievements in recent recruitment into the security services was to lobby for the intake of many of the youth into the Prisons, Police, Military, and Immigration Services.
She further stated how she lobbied for the construction of toilet facilities at Wedokum, Salem, Doryumu, Asutsuare Junction, and Apperkon,
“I have already commenced discussions for the possible start of the Salem Water Closet Project under the Health Fund”.
She is however mindful of the fact that, Ningokope, Lorlorvor, Fevlokope, Dedenya, and Fiakonya are in serious need of water facilities but she has pledged to deliver on these.
She said together they are also working very hard to complete some of the rural electrification projects as she noted that the contractor is aggressively working at Narhkope in Natriku,
“We will complete the Gozakope, Nyapienya, Dedenya, and Manya Jorpanya projects which are all similar to the Natriku project”.
On the issue of roads, Madam Ocloo informed the gathering that, she has raised the poor states of their roads on the floor of Parliament and the sector Minister has assured her of the government’s efforts to work on the roads,
“Doryumu Junction – Ayikuma has been awarded likewise, Agortor – Osuwem road also awarded. The Asutsuare – Aveyime road is part of the Eastern Corridor Roads earmarked for implementation”.
“Meanwhile, Golden Exotics Limited has completed the first phase of the spot improvement, and “in due course, I shall join Golden Exotics Limited for a unique partnership with the necessary support that is required to finish the other phases”.
The MP however, challenged the Party Members, not to rest in the face of all the best successes they have made knowing very well that there are many challenges that confront them –
“These challenges are known and these challenges are our common problems. We will fight to defeat them”.
She also asked delegates to ignore allegations and join her in campaigning for the victory ahead as she believes in a democracy that does not resort to insults or attacks,
“Our democracy must be matured. We must avoid the politics of threats, attacks, and lies against innocent persons just to deceive them for votes. Party members, please beware!”,
“The 2024 campaign for the NDC is not going to be based on EXPERIMENT. It will be based on EXPERIENCE. Let’s appreciate our experience while working towards victory in 2024. We are going to build the Shai-Osudoku Constituency together”.
The MP for Ablekuma South Constituency, Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who was the special guest at the launch, appealed to the delegates to vote to retain her.
According to him, Madam Linda has a promising future for the Region, and retaining her will mean a lot for the region. He also revealed that his colleague and the rest in the region have already put measures in place to increase the NDC’s seats in the Region from 20 to 25 and “it is possible together if you maintain your MP who has established herself in the House all these years”
