The Professional Forum (Proforum), a professional wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has honored the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, for his outstanding contributions to Ghana’s democratic development and his exemplary leadership in Parliament.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Sam P. Yalley, leader of the Proforum, extolled the Speaker’s extensive credentials, noting his role as a founding member of the group and his unwavering dedication to the NDC’s principles. He highlighted the Speaker’s remarkable contributions to the party’s ideals and democracy, calling for his retention in the role to further Ghana’s progress.
In his acceptance speech, Rt. Hon. Bagbin expressed profound gratitude to the Proforum for recognizing his efforts and commended the forum for its relentless dedication to the NDC and Ghana’s democratic journey. The Speaker reflected on the unique challenges faced by the current hung Parliament, emphasizing the need for patriotism, collaboration, and consensus-building to navigate these hurdles. He reiterated Parliament’s critical role in fostering accountability, passing essential legislation, and safeguarding the nation’s interests.
Highlighting his approach to leadership, Rt. Hon. Bagbin remarked, “I have served with a sense of patriotism and respect. Ghana is the goal.” He also encouraged the NDC to stay committed to its “resetting agenda” aimed at repositioning the country for development and progress. “With the NDC at the helm of affairs, Ghanaians will smile again,” he stated with optimism.
