THE RULING New Patriotic Party (NPP) has planned to snatch some key parliamentary seats from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on December 7.
According to the party, the targeted seats included the famous Asawase Constituency seat, in the Ashanti Region, which has never been won by the NPP before.
This was disclosed by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, the NPP running mate, whilst addressing party faithful in Kumasi on Sunday.
Napo stated that some key parliamentary seats, which the NDC considers to be their bona fide property, would fall during the impending national elections.
According to him, aside Asawase, the NPP is also targeting to win seats in Sekyere Afram Plains, New Edubiase and Ejura Sekyedumase constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
Napo, who is the running mate of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said the party is also planning to snatch some NDC seats in other regions.
“We have planned to snatch the Asawase, Sekyere Afram Plains and other key parliamentary seats from the NDC during the upcoming elections,” he pointed out.
He, therefore, charged party members and supporters to embrace hard work, stressing that with a united front and hard work, the NDC seats would fall.
Napo was speaking during the official launching of the Ashanti Regional NPP Campaign Working Committees and Women’s Conference, held in Kumasi last Sunday.
He also admonished the electorates to cast their ballots for Dr. Bawumia and all the NPP parliamentary candidates, to enable the party sustain its good works in the country.
Napo said the country was mismanaged by the NDC and former President John Mahama when they were given the chance to govern, so they were totally rejected in 2016.
According to Napo, the NDC has nothing good to offer the country and its people, stressing the need for the electorate to reject former President Mahama once again.
“Under former President John Mahama and the NDC, the country was plunged into total darkness because of gross mismanagement and recklessness,” he indicated.
Napo said the bad leadership exhibited by the NDC led to the collapse of businesses in the country, which unfortunately resulted in severe economic hardship.
He, therefore, asked his audience, “Why is John Mahama and the NDC looking for political power again after mismanaging the economy when they were given the chance to rule?”
Napo asked again, “Is the NDC coming to promote dumsor or coming back to sack nurses and teachers to cause hardships again?” noting that “the NDC should remain in opposition for more years.”
