In a remarkable display of commitment to community development and youth empowerment, the Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Agona West constituency in the Central Region, Frank Freebody Mensah, has extended his humanitarian gesture to “Beautiful Ladies” – a non-partisan community youth club, for Skills Training.
The move, according to him is for beneficiaries selected from the various communities within the Constituency to engage in vocational programs to enable them acquire hands-on skills.
He said the skills would mitigate the high level of unemployment in the area and in the country at large.
Mr Mensah who is also the patron of the group spearheaded the initiative to provide skills training in various trades, vocations, and handiworks of 10 enthusiastic ladies of the association .
On the May 22, 2024, Mr Mensah led an initiative to roll 10 members of the ‘Beautiful Ladies Association’ into various vocational skills to undergo a 3 years apprenticeship. Preference was given to the beneficiaries to choose the skills they wish, including fashion design, hairdressing, and among others. He then led all beneficiaries to the ‘Masters’ of the vocation they chose to learn and paid for their 3 years apprenticeship fees.
The event was attended by the parents of the youths, party officials including the Central Regional NDC organizer, Chief Mike Dery, Deputy Secretary for the Agona West NDC, Mr Kofi Dery, as well as the Branch Youth Organizers and Ward coordinators in Upper Bobikuma
“I have pledged continued support to those who aspire to learn other vocations or require financial assistance to kick-start their entrepreneurial ventures.”
“There will be a second phase of the program which aims to extend this support to a wider audience within the Beautiful Ladies youth group and the Agona West constituency at large” he added
He emphasized that the initiative does not only serve as a testament to dedication to youth development but also tell the NDC’s commitment to fostering a skilled and empowered young population.
He said by investing in the future of the youth, the NDC aims to make a positive impact on the community and contribute to the party’s vision for prosperous nation.
