NDC’s ‘Resetting Ghana’ Manifesto Offers Brighter Prospects for Volta Region – Kafui Agbleze

He further accused the ruling party of long-standing disregard for the region, citing its exclusion from several national budgets.

Sorkpa Kafui Agbleze, the Volta Regional Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed the party’s dissatisfaction with what he describes as the “glaring neglect” of the Volta Region in the manifesto presented by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Mr. Agbleze, the NPP’s manifesto lacks clear, region-specific projects that address the unique needs and aspirations of the people of the Volta Region.

He further accused the ruling party of long-standing disregard for the region, citing its exclusion from several national budgets.

“It is telling that Dr. Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, failed to visit victims of tidal waves in Anlo, Keta, and Ketu South during his campaign, even though he was in the region. His response to the Akosombo Dam spillage victims was also delayed until public pressure mounted. These actions, or lack thereof, demonstrate the NPP’s lack of concern for the Volta Region,” Agbleze remarked.

In a press statement, he further criticized the NPP for what he claims is a “calculated neglect” of the Volta Region.

“Unlike other regions, there are no major projects directed toward the Volta Region in the NPP’s manifesto. This is no accident but a deliberate strategy by a party that has consistently ignored our region’s needs,” Agbleze said.

He contrasted the NPP’s manifesto with that of the NDC, highlighting that the NDC’s ‘Resetting Ghana’ manifesto includes over 28 specific projects tailored to the Volta Region.

These initiatives, he said, span key sectors such as infrastructure, education, health, job creation, and governance.

“The NDC’s manifesto reflects our deep commitment to the development and prosperity of the Volta Region. These projects are not just empty promises but are a testament to our dedication to inclusive national development,” he emphasized.

Agbleze called on Voltarians, both within and outside the region, to reject the NPP in the upcoming elections.

He noted that even within the NPP, Dr. Bawumia faced considerable resistance during the party’s presidential primaries, which he argues is a sign of low confidence in his ability to deliver for the Volta Region.

“The NPP’s manifesto is filled with empty rhetoric and offers no real commitment to our region. In contrast, the NDC, led by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has a clear and actionable plan to transform the Volta Region. We urge all Voltarians to stand with the NDC as we work to reset Ghana and bring transformative change to our beloved region,” Agbleze concluded.
