National Champion of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) – Johnson Asiedu Nketia has described the victory of his side in the 2024 general elections as a second revolution.
Speaking at the commemoration of 31st December Revolution at Nungua Town Park on Tuesday December 31, 2024, Asiedu Nketia stated that the broken economy and the mass suffering of Ghanaians is what has resulted in the massive defeat of the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government.
He also accused the Akufo-Addo government of looting state resources saying the the NPP government created the impression as though there is nothing wrong with looting.
“There is no doubt about the broken economy which we have to set. Democracy is not a government of strong men but a democracy with strong institutions,” the NDC Chairman emphasized.
“So there is work to be done by strong men. What we need to reset is about values that define us as a people,” he added.
He has therefore urged Ghanaians to remain resolute and support the “Better Ghana We All Want” agenda of the incoming John Mahama administration.
Touching on the National Honors held yesterday by President Akufo-Addo, ‘General Mosquito’ described it as a charade. He pooh-poohed its significance considering the recipients of the Awards most of whom he described as failures.
“How would anybody with his head properly screwed on award Hawa Koomson who shoots at people. How can you honour Brian Acheampong. For NPP, there is nothing wrong with pulling guns and shooting,” the firebrand National Chairman stressed.
He added that state awards is awarded to people with distinction and not vigilante boys and girls.
General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, on his side, called on Party Supporters to exercise restraint in lobbying for positions insisting that when the government performs well, credit goes to everyone and that everyone would benefit.
Other notable speakers at the ceremony include the MP for Klottey Korle, Zanetor Rawlings, amongst others.
