NextGen InfraCo (NGIC) has formally refuted recent media reports misidentifying Tony Mintah as the company’s Chief Executive Officer.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 24, 2024, NGIC confirmed that since its founding, the CEO role has been held by Tenu Awoonor.
“The management of NextGen InfraCo (NGIC) wish to officially clarify that since its inception, the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been held by Mr. Tenu Awoonor. Recent reports erroneously naming Mr. Tony
Mintah as the CEO are inaccurate.
“While Mr. Mintah is a senior manager at NextGen InfraCo, the role of CEO has always been held by Mr. Awoonor,” the statement read.
NGIC urged both media outlets and the public to note this clarification and correct any inaccuracies regarding the company’s leadership structure.
“We kindly ask the media and the general public to take note of this clarification and correct any misinformation
going forward,” the statement added.
The Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC) is a new shared infrastructure company, co-promoted by the Government of Ghana, Ascend Digital, and K-NET.
This partnership includes leading technology providers Nokia, Radisys and Tech Mahindra. Discussions will soon be finalised with Microsoft, which has expressed an interest in this project.
NGIC’s equity will be held by the Republic of Ghana, Ascend Digital, K-NET, all Mobile Network Operators in Ghana and other investors including the technology providers who may wish to join the consortium.
