Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo says his team is going for nothing but a win in Monday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger.
He insisted that even if the Black Stars had won their last game, a win would have been the target for Monday’s as well.
Speaking ahead of the clash, which is scheduled to take place at the Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco, Otto Addo said there was a lot of negativity around the team after the lone-goal defeat to Angola.
“There was a lot of talking surely the last days and a lot of negativity which is normal when you lose and it’s a big big chance for us on Monday to win this game and prove the negative meanings about players or the coach,” he emphasised.
The Black Stars’ loss to Angola keeps them without a point in Group F of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
They take on Niger, who are also without a point after a 1-0 loss to Sudan in their opening game.
Coach Addo admits the game between the two sides will not be easy.
“This is very important, this is crucial,” he stressed.
“To qualify for the AFCON, we have to win and we’ll put everything in to do that and I’m very confident that we will win.
“But it’s not going to be easy, this is for sure and like I said, the boys are ready and they’re hungry for Monday and they want to show everyone that they’re still there and Monday is a big chance for us to show.”
He also said they have monitored the Menas for a while and they look a strong side.
“We observed them, we watched a lot of games that they played and they look strong.
“They have good players in their team and they play together as a team. They had some losses but it was all always very very close and they also had their chances so we have to be aware of that and they have good strikers, they defend very well, tactically they’re well educated so it’s not going to be easy but I’m sure that if we do our best, if we can create as much chances as in the last game against Angola, we will force the luck to come back to us.”
