At least four schoolchildren have been confirmed dead after an overspeeding vehicle driven by the District Chief Executive of Atwima Kwawoma collided with a school bus on Nkawkaw New Road in the Eastern Region, killing five and injuring several others.
Republic FM’s preliminary findings reveal that several schoolchildren have been hospitalised at the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw.
According to information gathered from the Kwahu West Municipal Motor, Traffic, and Transport Department (MTTD), there were a total of 23 people on board the school bus, including a female teacher who died, the driver of the vehicle, and the conductor.
Seventeen pupils are currently undergoing treatment, with some fighting for their lives.
The accident is said to have occurred at 15:00 hours GMT, on Thursday, Feb 15.
