Member of Parliament for the Gomoa Central Constituency, Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus has said that there would be no more overreliance on Zoomlion in his constituency.
According to A Plus, waste management must be decentralize to empower the communities because it is unacceptable for one company to handle waste in the entire country.
He stated that he will empower the youth of Gomoa Central with the right tools to take full control of waste collection in the constituency to stop the over reliance on Zoomlion.
“We will empower the youth of Gomoa Central with the right tools to take full control of waste collection—no more overreliance on Zoomlion! One company should not be allowed to handle waste from Accra to Paga. If we decentralize waste management, young people can set up their own companies in each district and become self-reliant.”
“It’s unacceptable for one person to dominate every sector—from maize importation to IT to DRIP machines. Other MPs can allow that in their districts and constituencies, but as for me, my incoming DCE and I are like “twins” and we are united in our quest to reset Gomoa Central — we will support young people to take over waste collection,” A Plus posted on social media.
The Gomoa Central MP made this post while reacting to Finance Minister, Dr. Ato Forson’s statement that MMDAs will no longer award contracts without the approval of the Finance Ministry.
