NPP is a useless party – NDC’s Yamin claims

A former deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr joseph Yamin, has described the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) as useless if they think opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as an alternative is empty.

To Yamin, the erstwhile Mahama-led administration has a better governance track record which makes it a better option for Ghanaians.

“They pride themselves in collapsing people’s business and always justify their actions but I am not surprised,” he added.

He said the Akufo-Addo-led government has caused more harm than good to the people but claims it is developing the country.

“If NPP’s measure is Mahama and they are saying the alternative is empty, then the current government is useless because things are worse than before,” he added.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, he said the Akufo-Addo-led government has run down the strong economic foundation the erstwhile Mahama led administration laid.

“We wouldn’t be facing all these difficulties and hard times if things were done well. A useless government we have now is creating a lot of problems for us,” he said.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has said his government has succeeded in turning around the fundamentals of Ghana’s economy, which he inherited from the Mahama administration.

He said: “We inherited a situation with a large fiscal deficit, which has been turned around now; considerable imbalances in the way in which our economy was being run have also been turned around; a 15.4% inflation is today at 7.6%, the lowest in two decades. These are the building blocks for us.”

The consequences of this turnaround, he explained, have been that, “in these three years, we have had one of the fastest growing economies not just on the continent, but also in the world, with this year being a 7.6% growth. It has been consistent over these last three years.”

The President made this known on Monday, 11th November, 2019, when he spoke, as part of a panel including President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, at the African Investment Forum’s

“Invest in Africa’s Space” event, currently ongoing in Johannesburg, South Africa.
