“NPP must address mistakes, restore trust” – Adwoa Safo

Former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to allow party members to openly express their views on what went wrong during their tenure in government.

According to her, it is important for the party’s leadership to face the truth and correct the mistakes that led to their loss in the 2024 general elections. She emphasized that the views of party members are essential for restructuring and strategic planning ahead of the 2028 general elections

The Former Deputy Majority Leader explained that the NPP has always championed freedom of speech and should continue to uphold that principle, especially now that the party is in opposition.

“This is a party that has fought for freedom of speech, this is a party that had the President that had come in and repealed the criminal libel law. We are in an opposition, how can you tell people not to speak?

“How can you restructure when you don’t want people to speak? I am telling ourselves that if we want to be comedians and then do things, then we laugh at our own acting, Ghanaians are ready to give us all the luxury to do that, but I don’t think we want that.” She stated

Adwoa Safo further emphasized the importance of allowing party members to express their frustrations. She stated, ‘Let people pour out their grievances, let people tell you why we did the things we did. Let us see how we can work it out with them.”

According to her, many members of the NPP have lost their passion for the party, making it crucial to restore unity and rebuild trust.

“The love that people had for the party is no more. How do we bring them back? How do we sit around the table again? Put the right strategies, the right planning.”
