Farouk Nkrumah, a former banker, business consultant and an entrepreneur in the Asunafo North Constituency of the Ahafo Region has debunked rumors alleging that he is salivating for power. He says he is only responding to the calls of the masses in the Constituency.
He made this statement during an address to party delegates after filling his nomination forms at the Constituency Secretariat last Wednesday to contest the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries to lead the NPP in the 2020 general elections. The governing New Patriotic Party has scheduled April 25 to elect Parliamentary candidates ahead of the 2020 general elections.
Whilst extending his heartfelt gratitude to the party delegates for their support as he sought the opportunity to represent them, Farouk Nkrumah announced that he is not in politics to enrich himself but to contribute towards the overall development of the Constituency in infrastructure and human resource development.
He highlighted some of his achievements to the constituency as an individual to better the lives of people in the Constituency.
“I have in my own small way contributed my little quota towards the development of this Constituency, donation of roofing sheets to support some needy schools, 124 footballs together with jerseys to schools and communities across the Constituency, we have also provided some cements, hospital equipment and has some street light bulbs to most communities.
Explaining his vision and mission to the cheerful delegates who accompanied him to the party office he said he is in this Elections to guide the youth to aspire to the higher potentials in education, assisting the youth into gainful self-employment.
“With the exception of the close-minded individuals, every patriot and the people of Ahafo are calling for change in leadership. On this basis, the youth, market women, party sympathizers and above all delegates are saying the party now is having a misfortune of going back to opposition in Asunafo North, if the current leadership remains untouched.
“We have compelled Mr Farouk Nkrumah to respond to the majority, and by so doing he has successfully submitted his nomination form to authorities” a delegated stated in an interview wih Ghananewdonline.com.gh
He appealed to party sympathizers to come together to protect the interest of the party first, because any other individual’s interest is subordinate to the party’s interest.
