NPP Primaries: Agyarko’s Widow To Go Unopposed

The national executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not organise any Parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, GhanaNewsPage.Com can confirm.

According to information available to GhanaNewsPage.Com, the national executives of the party decided not to conduct any Parliamentary primary in the constituency because the sitting MP, Lydia Alhassan is barely a year old in Parliament.

Lydia Alhassan was chosen to represent the party after her lover, Emmanuel Kyeremanten Agyarko, died in November 2018.

A by-election which led to her being elected to Parliament was a bloody one which led to the maiming of many NDC supporters.

NPP General Secretary, John Boadu, said that the party’s executives have agreed that the Madam Lydia Alhassan, contests unopposed in the 2020 elections.

“Apart from Ayawaso West Wuogon where the National Executives of the party has decided that there should not be any Parliamentary primary, no MP has been asked to go unopposed,” he said in an interview monitored by GhanaNewsPage.Com.

Lydia Alhassan comes face to face with actor, John Dumelo who is also the candidate of the NDC in the constituency.
