The Sissala West Nasara Coordinator of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Musah Walaika Iddrisu, is battling for his life at the Upper West Regional Hospital after sustaining severe machete wounds.
Musah Walaika was allegedly attacked by some thugs belonging to one of the factions in the party’s internal elections on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Gwollu, the capital of the Sissala West district.
According to reports, his attackers accused him of burying a talisman to sway the outcome of the upcoming constituency executive elections to the advantage of his favourite candidates.
Judging from the severity of the injuries, the Gwollu Hospital where he was initially rushed, referred him to the Upper West regional hospital, where he is currently battling for his life.
Musah Iddrisu who has since 2009 been the party’s Nasara Coordinator for the constituency is seeking re-election in the internal polls.
Meanwhile,
The police in the region have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in the attack on Musah Walaika Iddrisu.
The two are believed to be part of those who launched the attack on the constituency executive.
