Nyinahin Traditional Council in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region led by Otumfuo’s Brempong, Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II and his elders are appealing to the Members of Parliament to to speed up the passage of Bauxite Bill.
The Bauxite Bill, according to Nana Amampene Boateng Twum II, will boost development in the district and Ghana at large when it is passed to grant bauxite rights to respected companies.
Adding that it will create more employment to the youth and reduce the high rate of the unemployment in the country.
” The people of Nyinahin are very concerned about the Bauxite Bill because when it is passed for the companies to mine, it will create jobs for us and the country as a whole so we are appealing to the Members of Parliament to consider the passage of the Bill for us.” He passionately appealed.
According to research, Nyinahin has more bauxite deposits and for the past twenty years, all successive governments have not been able to start the operations until the Ghana Integrated Aluminum Development Corporation (GIADEC) and a local company ROCKSURE International LTD were given part of the concession to mine but they need parliamentary approval to commence operations.
For his part, Nyinahin Ankobeahene and Chief of Nyinahin – Akota, Nana Amoako Ogyampa Berima on behalf of the Nyinahin Traditional Council expressed their appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo and the NPP government as well as Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II for their efforts in realization of Nyinahin bauxite.
He encouraged investors to take advantage of the bauxite prospects to create jobs for the youth.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson of Nyinahin Youth Association, Kofi Yeboah on behalf of his members also explained the need for the Bauxite Bill to be passed.
He said the Bill when passed will create jobs and also reduce urban migration and excessive traveling for greener pastures
