Olympics 2021 Top Men’s Soccer Goal Scorers

Brazillian player Richarlison recorded a hat trick in Brazil’s first game against Germany, but Frenchman Andre-Pierre Gignac is yet to be outdone. The Frenchman recorded a hat trick against South Africa to take the lead on the scoring table of the 2021 men’s Olympics tournament. That has made the two forwards among pre-tournament favorites with solid sports betting odds of finishing as the top scorer in this competition.

Andre-Pierre is currently leading the top scorers’ table, after recording four goals and one assist in his 180 minutes played for France in the Olympic Games this year. The Frenchman is followed closely by his Brazil counterpart, Richarlison, who has recorded three goals after playing for 153 minutes.

South Korea’s Lee Kangin takes third place with two goals in 71 minutes, although there are a number of other players who also have three goals. Lee is holding the third position despite having the same number of goals as other rivals, assists and time played are considered as the Olympics’ first and second tiebreakers.

This year, the list of the Olympics top scorers packs some of the world’s best strikers in the history of international soccer, from Argentina’s attacking stars Hernan Crespo and Carlos Tevez to Chile’s legend Ivan Zamorano. As such, the top scorers’ board this year includes players like Germany stars Ragnar Ache and Nadiem Amiri, Saudi Arabia’s Sami Al-Najei, Japan’s Takefusa Kubo, and New Zealand’s Chris Wood, to name a few.

Ragnar Ache joined Germany’s Olympic team as a replacement, and he scored during their opening 4-2 defeat against Brazil. The 22-year-old was disappointed by the defeat in their opening match, despite scoring his first Olympic game. However, the loss motivated the Germans to win their next game against Saudi Arabia, with Ragnar recording his second goal after Nadiem Amiri opened the scoring surge with his second Olympics goal. As such, Both Amiri and Ragnar have two goals each to their names.

Saudi Arabia’s Sami Al-Najei has also recorded two goals in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, both scored in their Sunday’s match against Germany. Sami has played a total of 180 minutes in the Olympics this year, scoring his first goal in the first half as an equalizer from Nadiem Amiri’s goal. He also set the scores even after Ragnar Ache restored Germany’s lead in the game.

On the other hand, the 2021 Olympic hosts (Japan) opened the first game with a victory against South Africa at the Tokyo Stadium on Thursday all thanks to Takefusa Kubos 71st minute goal. Japan took the lead late after Kubo took a pass on his right side and fired past goalkeeper Ronwen Williams. Takefusa was also quick to remind fans that he’s a Real Madrid material, scoring his second goal in their match against Mexico.

New Zealand’s Chris Wood has also recorded two Olympic goals this year, with the first coming in their 1-0 against South Korea. The Burnley striker also recorded another goal against Honduras, although New Zealand lost the match 2-3.
