At least 250 youth in the Wenchi Constituency have undergone a free two-week training in satellite dish installation, courtesy of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Seidu Haruna.
This initiative is part of the MP’s ongoing efforts to combat youth unemployment in Wenchi and surrounding communities in the Bono Region.
In an interview with ExpressNewsGhana, Hon. Haruna emphasized that this training program fulfills a campaign promise he made to the youth before the 2020 elections.
“The needs of the youth in Wenchi are my top priority because they are the backbone of the constituency’s development, I am committed to implementing any program that can reduce unemployment among the youth in Wenchi,” he said.
Hon. Haruna’s commitment to skill development also includes an intensive training program in 2022 for over 200 youth at Al-Faruq, focusing on satellite installation, as well as training for more than 35 individuals in CCTV installation, gate automation, and electric fencing.
Beyond the satellite installation training, Hon. Haruna has spearheaded several initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and women in the constituency.
These include training over 4,000 individuals through the Women Empowerment Program in bread making, pastry production, and soap making.
In November 2021, he supported the annual graduation of dressmakers in Wenchi and provided the National Association of Beauticians and Hairdressers-Wenchi Branch with 30 brand-new hairdryers.
Additionally, he introduced a hire-purchase scheme for tailors and dressmakers, supplying over 25 industrial sewing machines.
Furthermore, his empowerment initiatives extend to physically challenged individuals and have facilitated Islamic educational workshops. Through these efforts, more than 12 individuals have received full scholarships to study in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Hon. Haruna’s dedication to improving the lives of his constituents continues to manifest through these impactful programs, which aim to equip the youth with practical skills and reduce unemployment in the Wenchi Constituency.
